Chernobyl Strain Review – Bonza Blog
Outside the cannabis scene, Chernobyl is a city located in Ukraine that experienced the most disastrous nuclear accident in history. For recreational and medical cannabis users, however, Chernobyl is a Sativa dominant strain that brings joy for everyone. In fact, it is considered as a happy-go-lucky hybrid that promotes a worry-free experience even for novice users.
People have the breeder TGA Subcool Seeds to thank for Chernobyl. It is a cross between three exceptional Sativa-dominant strains. Two of them, Trainwreck and Jack the Ripper, are notorious for the intense cerebral high they induce. Instead of passing on the same extreme effects, the other strain Trinity with its uplifting sensation seems to have more influence. As such, our featured hybrid provides a more relaxing or dreamy mental high.
Besides using the strain, Chernobyl also comes with a distinct aroma that attracts many users. As for cultivating the plant, though, it can be quite troublesome. Nonetheless, that has not stopped people from planting and enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Odor and Flavors
Chernobyl is packed with a very distinct scent that anyone around it could immediately notice. For seasoned users, of course, this strain could easily be identified just by its smell. It emits all types of citrusy aroma, from lemon to lime. It also has a pungent earthy scent that becomes more pronounced once the buds are broken.
Flavor-wise, Chernobyl produces a refreshing taste that is similar to its aroma. Citrus flavors burst into the mouth as soon as one takes a toke. Upon the exhale, a sweet and sour taste lingers on the tongue. For some people, this strain is reminiscent of Lime Sherbet or Lime Slurpee.
It is always fun to try out Sativa dominant strains. More often than not, the effects result in being either extremely happy or productive and sometimes both. That is why Chernobyl is such an excellent strain to try. If one wants to put a smile on their face, this is the perfect strain to use. However, novice users must take into consideration that it is very potent and can be overwhelming.
The effects of Chernobyl could last up to three hours. It begins with an energizing sensation leading to a euphoric head rush. As a result, users find themselves uplifted and in a pleasant mood. Life then becomes easier and more fun. Often, users describe the strain as an outstanding wake-and-bake strain. Like coffee or perhaps even better, it quickly clears the head soon after waking up. Also, it helps induce a sharper focus. For the creatives, forming ideas becomes more natural.
Chernobyl can help with productivity too. People using it become more active and more importantly, stay motivated and inspired.
Chernobyl, despite its delightful aroma, can be harsh on the throat. So, one thing users can expect is some coughing. It is more likely to affect beginners, though. Besides the harshness of its smoke, the strain also comes with a few adverse effects too. Typical of using cannabis, it can cause dry mouth and eyes.
For some people, a few may feel a mild headache. It is also possible that some may also experience a slight dizziness and even feel paranoid. Such conditions often occur if one uses too much than they could handle. To avoid or lessen the symptoms of these adverse effects, be sure to use only a small amount.
Medical Use and Benefits
One of the reasons for the growing popularity of cannabis is that more people realize that it has incredible pharmacological benefits. In the case of Chernobyl, it comes with a high THC content. Because of that, it induces strong psychoactive traits that alter the behavior of users.
First of all, the strain and the euphoric cerebral high it provides is more than enough to kill stress. It results in people feeling uplifted and happy. Hence, it can also benefit people with mental health issues such as depression as well. Instead of depressing thoughts, they should now find it easier to focus on positivity and productivity.
Second, the strain does have a smaller Indica side. To a certain degree, it induces a mild body relaxation. Even if it does not have any sedating effect, Chernobyl is proving to be effective against mild pains and aches. In all likelihood, this is more psychological than anything else.
Finally, some people use the strain to combat the effects of fatigue. As mentioned, it does make users feel energized. Besides spending the energy on productivity, some people may also feel enthusiastic about putting food in their mouth. That is because it can also stimulate the appetite.
Growing Chernobyl may be a challenge for both novice and experienced growers as it requires a degree of expertise when cultivating it. Like typical Sativa plants, it grows tall and will need constant pruning. Fortunately, it is a resilient plant and has shown resistance to molds and other diseases. Although growers can plant it inside the house, it thrives better in the outdoors.
When grown indoors, the flowering time is within 8 to 9 weeks. For a plant with Sativa structure, that is very quick. Growers can also expect to harvest up to 400 grams of buds per square meter.
Chernobyl loves getting plenty of sunlight. However, there should also be ample shading so that it does not overheat. Flowering starts in October with each plant producing around 400 grams of buds.
