Godfather OG Strain Review – Bonza Blog
Earning quite a reputation with its powerful sedative qualities, the insane THC of up to 28% has made Godfather OG the boss of the Indica mafia. Indeed, it is a strain that novices may find intimidating even at a glance.
In spite of its great influence, however, the strain also proves to be just as elusive. Still, its history and lineage are not forgotten. And, it is precisely why it sits at the top of the cannabis chain as “The Don of All OGs.”
It gained its strength from two larger-than-life names – XXX OG and Alpha OG. From the former, it gained its hard-hitting body high that brings about a feeling of lethargy while providing enough mental clarity to appreciate the comedown. Meanwhile, its entertaining euphoria that keeps enthusiasts giddy for hours is borne out of the latter’s genes.
Through its creeping buzz, it uplifts spirits as it settles into the bones, rendering users pleasantly immobile. And, who knows, as enthusiasts fall into a trippy state of mind, it would not seem unlikely to find themselves kissing the hand of The Godfather himself.
Users will have to act on discretion though as there is another strain of the same name but with Bubba Kush, L.A. Confidential and Granddaddy Purple as its genetics.

Odor and Flavors
Boasting of a charming yet pungent aroma, its presence permeates in the palate as the taste of wet soil. As if having just finished cutting up wood, an oddly pleasing odor makes for a rather masculine impression. Down to its core, it smells exactly how one would imagine the Don of All OGs to smell like.
Its flavors are just as attractive, with a more pronounced tone of grapes. It leans towards the bittersweet essence of a well-aged wine rather than a youthful fruitiness though, giving this a mature twist on the aftertaste.
Delivering a high worthy of a crime family patriarch, Godfather OG has a buzz that leaves many Indica-lovers hot on its tail. However, it does not start off as explosive as one might think. Rather, a tingling onset slowly spreads from the head down to the limbs, sharpening the senses.
Taking flight beyond cerebral skies, a light sensation keeps the mood afloat for hours. The euphoria is evident in how the mind roams free in the limitless plane of the mind.
By this time, a subtle whirr is felt in the bones. However, it is nothing like the sensation of hairs standing on end as the Don imposes its powerful presence. Rather, it is a hymn of relaxation that, as it hums, tempts smokers to recline back to comfort.
This makes a great setting for binging on mobster films on Netflix while munching on some snacks. After all, the subtle mental high along with the body buzz can stimulate the appetite. Although, it is expected that users will most likely fall asleep right after as the heaviness sinks in.
Being an extremely potent strain, reactions like dizziness is highly likely especially for novice-users who are weak against the strong effects of marijuana. Over-indulging may also trigger an anxiety attack that can sometimes develop into a subtle feeling of paranoia. As such, it is better to take low dosages at first and build up only if necessary.
Users are likely to experience dryness in the mouth and the eyes as well as a result of cannabinoids interfering with the production of moisture. This slight discomfort can easily be appeased simply by taking refreshments throughout the duration of the session, although one should note that alcohol should not be a part of the list.
Medical Use and Benefits
Godfather OG makes up for its low levels of CBD with its unbelievable potency. With a THC reaching as high as 28%, it leaves patients feeling liberated from the distress that comes with dealing with health issues.
Among its best uses, in fact, is beating stress to a pulp. It reduces the dangerous feeling of being overly pressured which, if left unattended to, can lead to a myriad of mental health issues including depression. In stimulating the mind, it allows low-spirited users to soar high in a carefree and light-hearted manner.
A blanket of relaxation envelops the body and makes the eyes droop. It is strongly analgesic in feature and will manage pain quite effectively. As such, it is not uncommon to find oneself temporarily eases of physical burdens such as nausea, arthritis, and cramps.
As the heaviness wears on, the eyelids begin to droop. Each wink will feel like a knock on Mr. Sandman’s door until, soon enough, sleep welcomes users in a warm, restorative embrace.
Growing Godfather OG
Godfather OG is not a tall plant. In fact, it inherits the short stature that most Indica-dominant buds share. It is also quite sturdy especially its stalks which are thicker than average. Equally hardy are its branches that do not break off at either the weight of its heavy buds or strong gusts of wind. Still, support is welcome to prevent unnecessary pressure on the stems and budding sites.
On that note, this is a strain that can be grown indoors or outdoors. Although, as a medical strain, it is likely that it is cultivated in more controllable environments that allow growers to adjust important factors such as temperature, lighting, and humidity.
Trimming away broad fan leaves will ensure that light reaches the lower-nodes as well. And, because its parents prefer using soil for its bed, it is safe to say that this plant may take after it too.
On that note, it takes about 8 to 9 weeks for the plant to mature indoors. Once the flowering time is done, it produces a satisfactory yield of 350 to 450 grams of buds per square meter.
Outdoors, yields are harvested by the end of September to the middle of October. Each plant produces at least 450 grams of buds per plant.
