Some people like it hardcore in that they want to feel the wild rush as soon as the first toke. Of course, many strains cater to their desires. Others, though, prefer to take it a little easy but not sacrificing the potency. In other words, they prefer the slow-acting one. If that is the case, then Lemon Diesel should make an excellent choice.
Bred by Green Lantern Seeds, this cannabis strain is a backcross of an early OG and a pair of Mexican and Afghan. The resulting hybrid, while Indica-dominant, still retains some of its Sativa genes.
Besides the one from Green Lantern, there are also other varieties of this strain. For instance, there is the clone-only variant. Although its genetics is unknown, some people thought it could be a cross between Lost Coast OG and California Sour.
Lemon Diesel’s great effects were the reason why it made its way to the top 10 in the 2010 Emerald Cup. Though it takes up to thirty minutes before the full effects kick in, once it does then it will deliver its exceptional euphoric cerebral high. Even so, its best used in the evening as it sends users off to dreamland during the comedown.

Odor and Flavors
Smoking Lemon Diesel is like stepping inside a room that smells like someone just sprayed aerosol. A lemony scent blankets the smoke with some hints of pepper and citrus. Its fruitiness is overwhelming and refreshes the nostrils.
Like its name, a lemon taste overpowers the diesel flavor, but not completely. It does not have any unpleasant aftertaste so that should delight the users.
It takes quite a bit of time before users feel its full effects. For that reason, some people may decide to use a little bit more. Of course, that results in a shockingly intense experience.
At any rate, it begins with a euphoric cerebral buzz that is not only energizing, but also one to induce a clear head and promote creative thinking. Feeling uplifted and happy, most users also tend to be more sociable.
Often, users feel energetic in the beginning, but as the Indica traits of Lemon Diesel starts to manifest itself, that can change. A soothing sensation spreads from the back to the extremities leading to deep relaxation. While one can describe the physical effects as very pronounced, it does not have the potent sedative-like properties of others that induce a couch-lock.
In essence, after inducing a reinvigorating mental high, it gently lets users fall into relaxation.
A reaction typical with the use of marijuana strains is having red eyes and dry mouth. In most cases, it should not bother users. However, overindulging can also make its symptom more pronounced. It can also lead to other adverse effects such as feeling a little paranoid or having mild dizziness.
Medical Use and Benefits
With its moderate to high THC levels, Lemon Diesel does not come short in the medical field. Granted that CBD may have more medicinal value, its psychoactive properties have proven to be quite invaluable to many medical cannabis users.
For one, its ability to take users to a euphoric high resulting in feeling uplifted can wipe out stress. As such, it can provide comfort to people suffering from anxiety and other mental health issues such as depression and PTSD.
Another thing it can do is to alleviate pain caused by illnesses such as cancer. One thing to note is that the same chemical compounds can also trigger the appetite. It is most helpful for patients who may need to eat a little more such as those undergoing chemotherapy.
People with trouble sleeping often have poor health. As such, the need to have quality sleep is vital. Before the effects of Lemon Diesel completely subsides, the chances are high that users have already fallen asleep. For that reason, it is the insomniacs’ best friend.
Growing Lemon Diesel
If one happens to live in a place where growing cannabis is legal, and they have a garden or a backyard, then Lemon Diesel is one strain that belongs to the outdoors where everyone else can see and admire its beautiful broad grey and purple leaves. It grows tall and symmetrically which has three or more terminal colas in tight spaces. However, it tends to get bulky in the latter part of the flowering stage.
Beginners and experienced users play a fair game when cultivating this strain because it is relatively easy.
It flowers in 9 to 10 weeks when grown indoors although this may be shortened when using the SOG or SCROG method. Either of these energy-efficient methods makes harvest time early and bountiful. It yields around 500 grams per square meter.
Outdoors, it prefers a moderately warm climate with lots of sun exposure and flowers between the second and third week of October. The yield is also quite generous amounting to 800 grams per plant.
