SFV OG Strain Review – Bonza Blog

SFV OG was named after a combination of the names of its birthplace and parent strain. Developed by Cali Connection Farms in San Fernando Valley, California, it is a phenotype of the legendary OG Kush.

As cannabis users, particularly in the West Coast of the United States are aware of, OG Kush is deemed the backbone of numerous others. Its widespread popularity mainly is due to the full-bodied relaxing effects and the ability to wipe out stress. It has also spawned several phenotypes with some such as Tahoe OG, Ghost OG, and SFV OG; all are going on to establish its own identities and reputation.

SFV OG, though, deviates from the OG lineage in that it leans towards the Sativa side. Still, the family heritage remains evident with its fragrant scent and potency.

SFV OG is not to be confused with SFV OG Kush. In fact, the latter is a descendant of the former. Furthermore, it should be noted that the varieties that are available for purchase online are not the same as the original. For example, there is an Indica-dominant variety that goes by the same name but is a cross between Hindu Kush, Chemdawg, and Lemon Thai. Another one is from Apothecary Genetics which used OG Male x SFV.

Odor and Flavors

If one were not to know any better, it is quite easy to mistake SFV OG for OG Kush as both smells the same. And, this fragrance carries over to its taste as well. Bursting into the palate is a blend of fresh earth and pine with a hint of lemon that is reminiscent of Pine-sol. It might be a bit harsh on the throat though. As an option, using a water pipe with percolators can significantly help in smoothing the smoke.

Effects

SFV OG is the mirror opposite of OG Kush. Its effects are mostly mental, and while profound, it does not overwhelm users. Its onset is also fast. Not long after taking a hit or two, the euphoric cerebral high it delivers quickly enhances the mood. In no time at all, the strain leaves users feeling energized and upbeat.

Used in the early morning, it can quickly clear the head of cobwebs. A perfect wake-and-bake strain, SFV OG not only promotes mental clarity but also increases the ability to focus.

Later, as the physical effects of the strain work itself into the body, it does not only help in uplifting the spirit but also soothe muscles. Its predecessor, OG Kush, has the potential to knock out users. SFV OG, though, merely puts people at ease and feel contented. In no way does it hinder physical activities or fogs up the mind.

Structurally, it should not deviate from OG Kush though. It’s being sturdy and resilient makes it an easy-to-grow plant. Still, it could also be susceptible to molds and mildew. As such, keeping it well-ventilated is a must, not only in the grow room but also in the tight areas under the canopy.

It grows well with soil as the medium or hydro. For best results, combining it with Screen of Green training can speed up its growth rate and yield. The flowering time indoors usually lasts from 8 to 9 weeks with each square meter having a yield of 10 to 12 ounces.

Outdoors, it is also important for growers to keep the growing area relatively clean. It thrives best in a warm climate where there is plenty of sunshine and ample shading. Harvest time should not reach the end of October with each plant capable of providing at least 12 ounces of flowers.
