OG #18 Strain Review – Bonza Blog
Also known as Private Reserve, OG #18, a phenotype of OG Kush, is a legend on its own. DNA Genetics bred this strain and released it under the Reserva Privada label. Appearance-wise, the herb barely resembles its predecessor. An Indica-dominant variant, it showcases a more Sativa-like structure.
Proven to be the 3rd most potent strains in the world by the High Times in 2014, this weed has other awards to boast. It earned top prize in the High Times Cannabis Cup of 2009 and 2010. Also, in 2010, it bagged wins from the Europe Champions Cup and Spannabis Indoor Hydro Cup.
Quite an accomplished strain, the diesel flavored OG #18 is a favorite among veterans. With a reasonably high THC content, it has the capacity to give a dreamy trip that will end with an extended visit to dreamland. Overwhelming to newbies, seasoned tokers can use it in moderation at any time of the day.

Odor and Flavors
OG #18 is notable for its pungent odor that lasts for quite a time when smoked in an enclosed room. Its strong skunky fuel scent with sour yet earthy kush undertone is not for everyone. It may put off newbs and non-cannabis users, while experienced smokers get enchanted by it.
Subtler than its fragrance, the herb’s taste is indeed more appealing. There is a mixture of sweet pine and diesel-like flavor that makes it unique. Most users who are familiar with such sapor love it. For some, though, it takes getting used to.
Lucky are those who are able to get their hands on an authentic OG #18. A top cannabis for elating the mind and relaxing the entire body, it is a gem with many imitations. Purchasing this hard-kicker must always be through reputable breeders and sellers.
After a single puff, a powerful head buzz will rule the head. A euphoric feeling will also fill one’s emotions. The desire to chat about everything under the sun will also be intense. To stay clear-headed, keep the dose within reasonable limits. Go overboard, and the user is in for a trancey trip.
As the herb is Indica-heavy, the true highlight of the session is the relaxation it gives. A tingly sensation will start from the back of the neck and crawl to every part of the body. Long-lasting and not the type to couch-lock, smokers can still enjoy non-arduous activities.
Great for leisure use and unwinding after a rough day, hours will pass unnoticeably fast. Take the dog for a long, easy walk and chat up some neighbors on the way home. Whipping up a delicious dish or two is also a great idea. Once the ganja’s high wanes, its munchies will kick in and make a toker voracious.
Almost all cannabis variants have negative effects, and OG #18 is not an exception. The drying of the eyes and mouth are the most common. With proper hydration during the smoke out, though, the infamous pair easily goes away.
Beginners and THC sensitive users are the most susceptible to worse offshoots. They may experience bouts of dizziness or a headache on the first try. Some also become so anxious or paranoid. Apart from its fairly high THC, the dope is pretty much a potent all-around strain.
Medical Use and Benefits
One of the main reasons why people use OG#18 is that it helps in alleviating various conditions. Patients struggling with arthritis, muscle spasms, and migraines especially favor it. With its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, soothing pains and aches come easy with this joint.
Aside from the fantastic physical effects, the dope also has its share of psychological benefits. OG #18 eases symptoms of mental concerns such as chronic stress and depression. Its blissful high temporarily boots out all the worries and negativities. As such, they get to relish a trouble-free state of mind for many hours.
Moreover, people who experience difficulty in sleeping also benefit from this ganja. Take a whiff early in the night as its sedating effect isn’t be immediate. Do note that smoking a more substantial amount to speed up the trip to dreamland is not advisable.
Another great thing about this strain is its uncontrollable munchies spin-off. Although some find this as an off-putting reaction, it is particularly valuable to those battling appetite losses. With the weed’s help, they may eventually establish good eating habits again.
Growing OG #18
Not just another OG Kush phenotype, OG #18 has distinguishing features that set it apart from the rest of its family. It produces 1/3 more small, sticky buds than its relatives. Yellowish flesh-colored, its pistils deviate from the usual orange. Overall, it is pleasant-looking and very much appealing to onlookers.
The cannabis is such a joy to grow; even novice growers won’t have a hard time. Such a hardy, it is resilient to molds and thrives almost anywhere. Not to mention, the beauty is not demanding. Warmth and essential TLC is all it needs to reach its maximum growth.
In a controlled environment such as grow rooms or tents and greenhouses, the weed prefers a SOG setup in hydroponics medium. Cultivators must also keep the temperature around 21 to 26 degrees Celsius to keep it warm. After nine weeks of blooming, the herb will express its gratitude with 500 to 600 grams per square meter of gluey buds.
If one is going for outdoor cultivation, this plant may achieve its maximum height of 5 feet. To make sure the weather doesn’t get too cold for the stunner and no frost can get to it, be ready to harvest by late October up to early November. If all goes well, expect a hefty 550 to 600 grams of sour delights per plant.
