Mr. Nice Guy Strain Review – Bonza Blog
The history of a strain is, without a doubt, intriguing. Some are named after specific characteristics while others are a play on the name of their parent strains. A few, though, are different in the sense that they are named after people.
After developing a hybrid (among many others), Amsterdam based seed bank Sensi Seeds named one Mr. Nice Guy. Not a lot of people may know about it, but it is in honor of convicted cannabis smuggler Howard Marks. Although he held numerous aliases, Mr. Nice became attached to him after buying the passport of murderer Donald Nice. After serving seven years in prison, he went on to publish his best-selling autobiography titled “Mr. Nice”. He also actively campaigned for changes in the legislation of drugs.
Mr. Nice Guy is a cross between G13 and Hash Plant (also developed by Sensi Seeds). Besides its fascinating backstory, this strain is also well known for winning 2nd place at the 2004 High Life Cup. Being Indica dominant, it provides a traditional body relaxation that is perfect for both recreational and medical cannabis users.

Odor and Flavors
Mr. Nice Guy emits a pungent earthy aroma that quickly fills the room. Aside from that, its sweet and skunky smell that is reminiscent of an orchid should delight many of its users. Because of its fragrance, it builds itself up to a genuinely appetizing cannabis experience. Upon smoking, a mouth-watering taste of fruity sweetness tingles the tongue. Hints of pine and wood pass through the throat during exhalation.
For cannabis users, the choice of using which strain depends on individual preference or needs. Some prefer the heavy-hitting cerebral high to help them go through and have a productive day. Other users go for a physically relaxing effect to feel at ease. For those who want to experience the latter, Mr. Nice Guy is definitely the perfect choice.
Even if it has a higher percentage of Indica side, Mr. Nice Guy delivers a truly uplifting effect that enhances the mood to that of elation. At the same time, it also helps people clear their mind. In most cases, there is a general sense of happiness that sets the tone for a having great day.
Meanwhile, the physical effects of the strain continue to creep into the body. Once it kicks in, it induces a deep body relaxation. In time, users are likely to feel sleepy. However, if it so happens that one used a little more than they can handle, then the strain can induce couch-lock.
On average, Mr. Nice Guy is a potent strain. Use it moderately, and the mental and physical high it provides is mellow. Although it is true that there are hardcore users who prefer the extreme psychoactive high, there are also many who prefer a gentle and relaxing hybrid. For these people, this strain is one of the top choices. While it can be used in the daytime, it is best used in the evening.
Mr. Nice Guy, faithful to its name, is friendly. After all, its adverse effects seem to be timid compared to many others. Still, that is not to say users will not experience any at all. Being cannabis, dry mouth and eyes can be expected.
In some instances, there are people who may feel a little lightheaded or have a headache. A few may also feel a tad bit paranoid. These adverse reactions are not likely to occur. Even if they do, the symptoms are often very mild, and most users may not even notice. However, the severity of the symptoms also increases once users smoke too much.
Medical Use and Benefits
A lot of things are to be taken into consideration when recommending a strain for medical use. There are people who consider using strains with high THC and CBD content. However, not all strains have high levels of both.
Mr. Nice Guy does not have a high CBD level, but it does have a high amount of THC. In this case, it is the psychoactive properties of the strain that provides comfort to medical cannabis users.
Its overall calming effects may benefit patients who are going through different types of mental illness such as depression, anxiety, and PSTD. By enhancing the mood, these people should find it easier to cope with their condition. Besides that, the deep relaxation it induces can also help reduce the symptoms of physical ailments. It comes with an anti-inflammatory property that helps soothe aching muscles.
Finally, because most people tend to feel sleepy, it helps people sleep better. For obvious reasons, this is a notable benefit to patients who need to rest.
Growing Mr. Nice Guy
The name of this strain is presented as if it is the most agreeable strain that there is, but Mr. Nice Guy is quite a challenge too. Growers will have to have ample experience when growing this plant. That is because extra attention is needed for it to reach its full potential. Though it may be cultivated in both indoor and outdoor environments, it can also be a little picky.
When grown indoors, Mr. Nice Guy thrives best by using the Sea of Green (SoG) training technique. Flowering starts in about 9 to 11 weeks. It can produce a yield of up to 400 grams per square meter.
Mr. Nice Guy does not like a humid environment where humidity is high. Hence, it is best to cultivate it in a climate that is similar to the Mediterranean. Each of these plants can produce up to 450 grams of buds. Flowering should occur during the third to fourth week of October.
