Mendocino Purps Strain Review – Bonza Blog

Mendocino County is noted for its beautiful Pacific Ocean coastline. Aside from the famous winery and redwood forests, it is known for its liberal views and support for marijuana legalization. In fact, a third of its economy relies on the cultivation of cannabis which looks promising.

Mendocino Purps, for obvious reasons, must have taken after the name of the county where it originated. Experts traced its lineage to a North American Indica. As one of the premier landrace strains, it passed on its excellent genetics that led to the offspring winning the High Times Cannabis Cup twice – in 2007 and 2009.

Back when it first made an appearance on the scene, Mendocino Purps was clone-only. It was not until 2004 when BC Bud Depot stabilized its genetics and finally offered seeds. This Californian cannabis is also known as The Purps and Mendo Purps among many others.

Growing Mendocino Purps

This short and stout plant is very friendly to new and veteran growers. It has densely-packed dark green buds with pretty bright orange trichomes sticking out. One of the reasons why it is called The Purps is that when it is nearing flowering stage, the leaves take on a pretty purple color.

Mendocino Purps is not a finicky plant when it comes to cultivation. It thrives well indoors or outdoors depending on a person’s space availability. If planning to grow indoors, expect it to grow up to 120 centimeters. Its flowering period takes between 8 to 9 weeks and, during harvest, gives a generous harvest of 350 to 450 grams per meter square.
