The weed was initially believed to be a cross between Basic No.5 and Skunk No.1. However, new sources claim that the prior is, in fact, Northern Lights No.5. If that is the case, it makes the hybrid of same genetics as Shiva Skunk.

Even with a partly questionable origin, M-39 has amassed a considerable following. In 2013, it was even included in the High Times Magazine’s Top 10 Canadian Strains of All Time. The Indica-dominant hybrid offers a well-balanced high. Strong yet not overwhelming, it is best enjoyed with friends for an afternoon chill. M-39 is a great choice for a positive experience for both the body and mind.

Growing M-39
Nicknamed “beasters”, M-39’s pinecone-shaped buds earned that nickname because of its sparkling crystal. Of medium size, its abundant crystals glisten under the sun. The lime green leaves accent the flowers with some orange hairs sticking out.

This herb is fairly easy to cultivate as it grows fast without much monitoring. Despite being bushy, it is resistant to molds and diseases. Just make sure to trim the branches regularly as they grow fast in an outward direction. Cannabis farmers need to note, though, that M-39 is a clone only strain.
Planting this hybrid inside the house is okay as it does not grow that tall and has a weak odor. After flowering for 8 to 9 weeks, it will yield an average of 300 to 450 grams of fresh bud per square meter.
Outdoors, the beauty prefers an warm climate. It can still thrive in northern areas, though, by planting it when it’s sunniest. Be ready to harvest no later than late October. It produces a generous yield of 500 grams per plant.
