Big Buddha Cheese Strain Review – Bonza Blog

Before it came to be, some people were ‘big’ – on persistence, that is. If it were not for the persistent efforts of individuals, then UK Cheese might not exist. Consequently, Big Buddha Cheese, would not have been around to snag the 2006 High Times Cannabis Cup Best Indica award.

In 1989, a clone-only strain appeared in the United Kingdom. It came with cheesy flavor and, more important, captivated recreational users with its high-energy buzz. Allegedly, this plant grew from a pack of Skunk #1 seeds. If that was the case, then this hybrid which was later named UK Cheese is a phenotype of Skunk #1.

For years, UK Cheese thrived only because of the efforts of growers in passing around its clone. Even more spectacular is that it led to further crossbreeding. A whole family of strains today traces its roots back to UK Cheese.

Over a decade later since it first appeared, the breeder Big Buddha Seeds crossed the original clone-only UK Cheese with an Afghani landrace Indica plant. From this endeavor, they created a strain that is closest to UK Cheese and one that can produce seeds. And that is how Big Buddha Cheese came to be, the most popular and widely available strain within the cheese lineage.

Odor and Flavors

The skunk lineage of Big Buddha Cheese is evident as soon as one opens the lid of the jar or unzips the bag. As the skunky and earthy scent fills the room, so too does the sharp cheese aroma that is reminiscent of parmesan cheese. Upon smoking, the fragrance of the strain carries over with a sweet fruity note.

Effects

The exact split of Big Buddha Cheese is unknown. Regardless, it does lean towards its Indica side. However, it does not mean that its Sativa effects are mediocre. Far from it, the cerebral high is very pronounced, and the only reason it does not become overwhelming is due to its other side holding it in check.

Upon smoking, the mild cerebral effects usher in a euphoric buzz that uplifts the spirit. It is followed soon by a sense of happiness. In fact, it can even influence people to be more sociable. Not surprisingly, many users tend to have bouts of laughter, especially when with other people.

Even if it is considered to be a potent strain, the mental high does not overwhelm people by causing any psychedelic experience. Instead of a mind-bending cerebral buzz, most users tend to have a clear head with a heightened sense of focus. A part of this is due to the Indica traits which serves as an anchor to keep the mental high in check. At the same time, it also induces a full-body relaxation.

Gentle with its psychoactive properties, the physical effects of this strain also do not seem to promote laziness or cause some to feel lethargic.
